Today, the house is a disaster and I’m surrounded by boxes. We’re in the midst of decluttering the house, and getting ready to put it on the market.

There is an unbelievable amount of work to do, we have accumulated lots of stuff over the years. Step one is to go through every cupboard, drawer, cabinet and box, and pull out things we don’t want. We’ve already been able to give away a few things to friends and family, and plan to do a charity shop run this weekend to drop off some boxes of donation items.

The next step will be to get the house clean and tidy, and ready for pictures to go with the realtor’s listing. This entails a deep clean of all the nooks and crannies that don’t usually get any attention – dusting blinds and light fixtures, cleaning handprints off doors, wiping down all the kitchen cupboards, cleaning the siding on the garage, giving the yard a cleanup…the list seems a bit endless and overwhelming.

The general sentiment at this time is STRESS! So much to do before we head out, but somewhere beneath the stress, there’s excitement and anticipation for the next adventure.
